Hope's charitable involvements in Belize

A portion of the earnings of this book will be donated to educational and environmental programs in Belize. Some of the programs that have already benefited are:

San Ignacio Library, summer program: this is a day-long camp program that includes story time, lunch time, and arts and crafts for kids who need a place to go during the summer while their parents are at work:

After School Program

We have also organized a Christmas book drive in 2008 that solicited more than 70 new and used children's and adult books for the library, with plans to do another book drive in 2009.

Ix Chel Tropical Research Foundation: This afterschool program, run by Dr. Rosita Arvigo, provides local Cayo District children with a safe place to play, finish homework assignments and learn about medicinal plants and conservation of our natural resources.

After School Program

The Cornerstone Foundation: Among its many programs, this foundation identifies Cayo District children with high chances of educational success and offers full high-school tuition scholarships for those whose families would otherwise not be able to afford to send them. In 2009 proceeds from The Possibility of Everything paid for two Cayo children to attend high school for the 2009-2010 school year.

Elijio Panti National Park: Founded in the memory of Don Elijio Panti, the last great Maya shaman of Belize, this park in the Cayo District and its accompanying foundation strive to protect and conserve a swatch of natural medicinal rainforest and to preserve Maya culture and community in the region.
